LEARN HOW YOU ARE PROTECTED

Starward Homes’ 100 years plus history of building homes for people from all walks of life has taught us one thing: satisfied home owners are the only thing that matter. As such, we’re very proud of our history of meeting and consistently exceeding the standards and expectations of Tarion, the Regulator of the new home building industry in Ontario. They license all new home builders in the province and ensure that all new homeowners receive the new home warranty coverage that they are entitled to by the law.

Congratulations on your new home. Our goal is to ensure you have the smoothest experience possible.

As such, here’s what you can expect:

1. Upon closing and within 5 days, you will receive a welcome call from our Customer Care Consultant which will explain your warranty process and answer any immediate questions you may have or address any concerns.

2. At this time you will be guided through the process of registering your new home with Tarion. Your enrollment # can be found on your Tarion Warranty Certificate.

3. Once this is done, you will complete your 30 day and 1-year warranty items list.

4. Once your 30 day and 1-year list is complete and agreed upon, you will be contacted by our Customer Care Consultant and an appointment scheduled to service your warranty items.

A major structural defect is defined in The Ontario New Home Warranties Plan Act as:In respect of a post June 30, 2012 home, any defect in work or materials in respect of a building, including a crack, distortion or displacement of a structural load-bearing element of the building, if it,

(iii) materially and adversely affects the use of a significant portion of the building for usual and ordinary purposes of a residential dwelling and having regard to any specific use provisions set out in the purchase agreement for the home

The seven-year MSD warranty includes significant damage due to soil movement*, major cracks in basement walls, collapse or serious distortion of joints or roof structure and chemical failure of materials. In addition to the general exclusions, the seven-year MSD warranty specifically excludes: dampness not arising from failure of a load-bearing portion of the building; damage to drains or services; and damage to finishes.
